Origami is originated from the word 'ori', which means 'to fold'
and the word 'kami', which means 'papers'.
The Japanese uses the word Origami for paper folding.
Origami, however, did not start in Japan, but it began in China
during the 1st or 2nd century.
It was then spread to Japan sometimes in the 6th century.
During that era, only the high-class community could afford to do paper folding.
In addition, not only the Japanese are involved in paper folding
but the moors, who were from Africa, brought this paper folding art with them to Spain
when they invaded that country in the 8th century.
From Spain, it was spread to South America.
As the trade routes were developed, the art of Origami was the introduced to Europe
and later to the United States.
The Origami crane has now become a global peace symbol.
